Teddy Soeria Atmadja

Teddy Soeria Atmadja has been one of Indonesian cinema's quietest powerhouses since his 2000 debut short Culik. His breakout, Lovely Man (2011) — starring Donny Damara as a transgender woman in Jakarta — premiered at Busan to acclaim and landed him a Best Director nod at the 2012 Asian Film Awards, sharing the stage with names like Zhang Yimou and Asghar Farhadi.

That film alone won a Golden Reel Award and picked up multiple Piala Citra nominations, while later works like Berbalas Kejam (2023) and The Architecture of Love kept the nods coming — six wins and seventeen nominations in total across a career built on giving Indonesia's overlooked characters real cinematic weight.
